Stella D. Nelms, PhD, is a licensed psychologist and Assistant Professor in the Division of Neuropsychology in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. Prior to coming to Emory, she worked at the Hampton VA in Virginia from 2007-2010, and then as the palliative care psychologist at the Atlanta VA Medical Center from 2010 -2019. Dr. Nelms joined the faculty at Emory full- time in 2019. She teaches interpersonal communication to first year physical therapy students at Emory. Her clinical interests are adult adjustment to illness, coping with complicated medical conditions, palliative care, and pain management.
