The Division of Physical Therapy at Emory University has a well-respected and highly productive interdisciplinary research program. Primary areas of research include gait biomechanics, human movement across the lifespan, rehabilitation of movement dysfunction, neural plasticity, patient-centered outcomes, health services research, and ethical reasoning. Studies aim to improve the clinical care of many patient populations including: stroke, spinal cord injury, Parkinson’s disease, orthopedic and sports medicine injuries, people living with HIV and other chronic conditions. The Division’s researchers collaborate with other top scientists at Emory and regionally at the Shephard Center, Georgia Tech, Georgia State University, and the Atlanta VA. The Division is also engaged in innovative interdisciplinary national and international partners.
